“This song painfully depicted for me the contrast between; what we are, what we think we are, and what we pretend to be - denial and regrets suppress us with crushing, limitless gravitational power.” –Stephen Fitzgerald (lyric composer)
Weighted with depressing heavily emotional guitar melody and roomy drums.
I was given a bunch of text files by my older cousin (Stephen) a few years ago, but dismissed them as the content was very heavy and explicit for my age. I rediscovered them only recently, this being my artistic interpretation from his lyrics.
Inspiration drawn from Joe Satriani and Metallica.
lyrics
At night I stand before my mirror
What will I see this time?
I can’t help but quiver
I see all that I don’t want to see
Timeless, darkness, injustice
And all that I don’t want to be
C- Don’t reflect the truth
Black glass so uncouth
Don’t pretend your imagery
Is a picture of me
Will I crack if I smash you?
Why do you reflect me anew?
(x2)
I see my evil on your face
Wipe away my impurity
Saw a demon in my place
It’s hard to keep my sanity
Shattered hearts trapped
When I look before thee
C x2
How can you see your reflection?
When there’s only vanity
Your images cause soul infection
Mirror laughing on the wall
I hate your jest and honesty
Mirror, you’ll just have to fall
C x2
